Things to Do

Carlisle and the surrounding towns of Shippensburg, Mechanicsburg and Boiling Springs have something for every visitor. If you enjoy fishing, hiking, shopping, biking, touring historic sites and dining in some of the finest restaurants, the Red Cardinal Bed and Breakfast is a perfect place to begin.
If you enjoy fly-fishing, two world famous streams, the Yellow Breeches and Letort Spring Run are within a 5 minute drive.
If golfing is you passion the golf course at Mayapple is nearby.
History abounds in the Cumberland Valley. The cities and towns surrounding Carlisle are steeped in Civil War history and Gettysburg is a 25 minute drive from our B&B.
The Army Heritage and Education Center has a walking history trail as well as an indoor exhibit and research center.
If shopping is on your agenda, you are in for a treat. Downtown Carlisle has its own "shop the block" on Pomfret Street. In addition, there many antique stores and unique shops in the downtown area as well.
If you are into "trash to treasure" shopping, there are plenty of "tag" sales and church bake/yard sales throughout the summer. The Red Cardinal B&B has its own "Joanne's stand" for "recycled" garden items.
If cars are your interest, you must attend one of the Carlisle car shows that are held from April through October. Our "repeat" guests have been attending the car shows for more than a decade.
At the end of a busy day of exploring, there are numerous restaurants to choose from. We will be more than happy to suggest some of our "favorites".
